popular Multitec. It is expected the official release date will be February 10 this year (2012). Shoei simply continues to improve each new model of helmet so its arrival is highly anticipated. After listening to their Multitec helmet users Shoei have raised the bar higher by releasing the Neotec. The Neotec incorporates a drop down sun visor, increased noise reduction and lighter weight through the use of 5-ply Shock Absorbent Fibreshell. Shoei also seemed to have listened to concerns from their users that the Multitec chin bar was too confining for some riders, and they extended the length of the Neotec chin bar by 8mm.

The Shoei Neotec has nearly three times more ventilation than the Multitec because of its additional intake and exhaust vents. Shoei are stating that the quiet, stable feel of the Neotec allows a more relaxed environment for the rider, reducing stress on longer rides. What’s more is that Shoei claim the Neotec is their quietest helmet ever. The double D-ring on the Multitec has been replaced on the Neotec with a 100% stainles steel micro ratchet system.
The Neotec helmet combines and improves on the convenience of an open face helmet with the safety and comfort of a full face helmet.

Verdict
All of us who do enjoy touring will be looking forward to see if the Shoei Neotec lives up to all that it promises. Shoei have been in the business for a while now, and I’d be surprised if there aren’t a whole stack of satisfied Neotec owners out there by the end of 2012.
